Have any of you considered donations to service people through http://anysoldier.com (there are equivalent, anysailor.com, anymarine.com etc.).
I'm NOT a big fan of donating money BUT you can get specific addresses with specific requests for items. Usually it is small things like candy, deodorant, soap, etc. and can make a HUGE difference to the lives of deployed people.
One other thing that is common is UNscented baby wipes - when you are deployed and only bathe once/month ANYTHING you can do to clean up is heaven.
