Hey Mike,

You asked me if any of the Oz Wilkins Servis automatics were the UK designed machines. The answer is Yes....Wilkins Servis Australia imported the Mark 22 automatic from the UK from 1968. I do not know how long they were on the market for: a couple of repairmen who contacted me said Wilkins Servis probably sold a total of 1000 units of the Mark 22.

Apparently, from what ive been told, these machines had clutch problems and were difficult to service....sorry to say. I have not had anyone contact me with this machine, but then i haven't advertised...yet...for it either. My instincts tell me i may not find it given its history of clutch problems...but never say never.

I thought you would like to see a couple of pages of a spare parts manual i got about this design. I would be happy to copy it for you and send it across. Just let me know

Regards
Leon

OMG...!!!!

Leon, you`ve just given us the first look of the inside and the answer to the "UK Holy Grail", your Wilkins Servis MK 22" is non other than the UK Servis MK41 "All Fabric Automatic", no-one here has seen one let alone have one, my great aunt had the previous model with the usual Black Agi, this model has the new "2 Stage Agi" with Snap On Power Fin...

The interesting thing is this model was first produced in March 1966 , but the new blue agi was introduced in July 68, I see from your manual it states Oct 67, I wonder if it was tried out with you before being released here....Hhmmm...

Leon, Many thanks for solving an Appliance Mystery & showing us the info.

Heres the pic of the Servis MK41 uk:

Glad to oblige Mike

Hey Mike,

Glad to oblige. I will photocopy the manual for you and send it across when i get a chance. Email your address details to me at [email protected]

I actually saw one about 10 years ago sitting outside a Wilkins Servis service centre in Sydney NSW. Pity i wasn't into collecting machines then.

I may try placing a Wanted Advert and see if i get any response....after all, most of the machines i got on this trip were sitting in sheds on farming properties.

Cheers
Leon

Hi Leon,

Following on from what Mike was saying your version of the "mark 22" was quite different to our UK styling version !!

Could i really be a pain and ask if i could get a copy of the manual as well ? I have got part of the what was the Mark 41 over here, but am interested to see what the internal hose system was like.

I did a radio interview the other week, and specifially put out a request for this machine, to which i had one response, but the lady in Shropshire is still using, even be it only for the spin cycle..**sigh** one day !!

A copy for you too Keith

Hi Keith,

I would be happy to provide another copy....just email your address details to my email address above and I will forward one onto you.

Awww too bad that she is still using it....maybe you could stay in touch with her until maybe one day she no longer needs it?

Servis - Sold on Superiority Throughout The World..

Hi Keith, Well at least another bit of the puzzle is solved!!!seems like Leons machine was the first in AUS, given the MK22 is identical to the MK41 number and the fact our 22 was soooo different..

Have you a sound file of your radio interview, I for one and I`m sure all here would love to hear it...When you think about it there must be other machines out there as well, given the last one was the MK55...

Leon, here is a pic of our MK22, The first Servis Top Loader, From 1963, cheers, Mike
