Oh MY GOD!!!!!
I just hit pay dirt TWO days in a row......
First, I saw a 24" Kenmore that was strikingly similiar to the one I had grew up with yesterday (only mines was a lower level model than the one that was pictured out there in Seattle).
And now, I see this Philco (and in MARYLAND no less). That was my late great-grandmother's washer. I kid you not, she had THAT EXACT MODEL(!!!!).....
Now, the question I want to ask you die hard Philco fans, was that were the lids on these machines ever reversable???? I see that the lid on the one that's pictured here opens toward the left. If I could recall correctly, the lid on my late great-grandmother's machine opened to the right.
And what are the common problems Philcos usually have when they break down????
I ask this because I haven't seen this washer since 1976, and one day that year, when my parents went up to Spartanburg, SC to visit my great-grandparents, I did see the washer sitting in the yard all rapped up for the city people to take it to the dump. That was when I saw a shinny new Speed Queen sitting in the kitchen.
