Neat find! It looks almost brand new!

That’s a 22 series superba. Note that it has 8 buttons. The 21 series superba only has 7. This extra button was to add a short wash cycle to the machine. Other than this, the machines are basically identical. Here’s a picture of my 21 series superba for reference.

Parts...

Basically everything is discontinued, yes. But, you can still get some of it used online. I looked up a few parts for my 21 series KA, and some of them can be had still. I’ve also heard from a couple of members on here who still have NOS parts for these machines. As far as ease of repair goes, I can’t really speak to that, as I haven’t started working on mine yet. However, it looks like it was designed in such a way that everything is easily serviceable.
Hope this helps,

I had a KUDS220T4.  It was not a PowerClean and had a "Rinsed Only" light instead of "Please Wait."

The 23 series buttons are 1)Soak & Scrub Pots/Pans, 2)Normal, 3)Light/China, 4)Quick/Glass, 5)Rinse Hold, 6)Sani Rinse, 7)Energy Saver Dry, 8)Cancel/Drain.  Light/China and Quick/Glass are the same sequence (Wash, Wash, Purge-flush, Rinse, Dry) but Quick/Glass is shorter.  Light/China allows Sani Rinse, Quick/Glass does not.  Energy Saver Dry shortens (or eliminates?) the dry period on Quick/Glass.

A couple of questions...

What was the point of the ‘please wait’ light? I’m guessing it had something to do with the heated drying? Also, when did KA move away from the Hobart style control panels? My aunt has a 23 series KitchenAid from 1994, and it has the newer plastic control panel. I thought all 23 series machines used the newer panels, but as Combo pointed out, the KA above definitely isn’t a 22 series based on the sump.
Thanks,
Thatwasherguy.

KitchenAid 23 series dishwashers

Used a variety of different panels somewhere stainless steel even most were plastic.

Please wait light came on when you use the cancel button you had to wait for the timer to advance the timer to the off. Period. Usually took about a minute.

They had complaints because it didn’t happen instantly like with a more sophisticated electronic control where you could just cancel it and then pick a new cycle. You had to wait for the timer to advance to the off period and then advance one more increment so they put a light in because of the complaints, this was a whirlpool improvement.
