You never know what you will find while driving.
Just 10 min ago, I was driving to the bank and stopped DEAD in my tracks...On this machine was a cardboard sign saying "FREE...IT WORKS".

Somehow I managed to haul this by myself into the front seat of my Grand Am.

What a surprise!

That screen on the bottom looks very close to the one i have in my WP. Was WP using the powerclean system on these KA machines at that time?

BTW...very nice d/w...and yes Maytagbear,...more money then sense..all too often.

Gary, that looks like the exact machine that's in my kitchen right now, including the black front panel. Interesting that it has an adjustable top rack as mine doesn't, but otherwise it looks the same.

I bought my machine when I remodeled my kitchen 16 years ago so that should give you a ballpark idea of when it was manufactured. Mine is still going strong and I suspect the one you found was a victim of a remodel where all appliances were replaced whether they were working or not. This is pretty typical behavior, and if you're going for a new look, it's a case of out with the old regardless of condition. It's just too bad that there aren't more places like "Urban Ore" in Berkeley, which is like a humane society for building materials, appliances, and home furnishings and finds new homes for machines like the one Gary found.

Gary - that is the very last model year run before they switched to the Tall Tub design. I have the same machine, except it's the Superba. It's vintage is about 1995 or so. I do believe that is the Whirlpool Power Clean module in there. It's an excellent cleaner, and not too hard on the ears! Certainly easy on the eyes. All of the manuals are available under the Customer Service link of the KitchenAid site. I got mine there. Those racks look to be in mint conditon...what a great find!! Congratulations man!

You'll probably find it works as well as the Superba you currently have!!

Wow! Guess I stumbled across a bargain today!

I hooked it up to the electricity(make-shift) and hooked the drain line. Filled it up with a garden hose. It washed perfectly, the timer advanced and it drained out absolutely no problem.
