Hi everyone. It’s time to clean the garage to make way for a restoration project I’m doing. So I have this maytag set I saved last year from an estate sale. Does anyone want them before I have to send them to goodwill located in Orlando Florida.

I'm in Sarasota and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to come up to Orlando for them.

Do you have any idea how much work they might require? Not looking the gift horse in the mouth, just want to know what I might be getting into since I'm not able to repair or diagnose these myself. I have to be honest with the hubby as to how much work he might need me to assist him with before we drive out. ;)

I can come up next week - Sundays are devoted to visiting my mom. Please message me or post.

THANKS!

Melissa

Melissa.

They work great. The lady I got them from let me run a full cycle Thru of the washer and it had no issues. I’ve never used them here only at her house. The dryer heated up fast and worked great as well.

Silver vs sapphire panel

This is the first time I've seen the contrast between the silver and sapphire lower-half of the panel. I know the sapphire is from the late 60's and the 70's machines have a golden panel. What years/models have the silver panel?

Melissa, you're going to love that dryer.  We had the gas version and it was the best, quietest, fastest dryer I've ever owned.  It was paired with the same model of washer as the one you'll be getting.  As long as you're OK with the standard capacity wash tub, grab these machines!

Melissa.

Yes. I work out of the country but will be back and fourth the next few weeks. If you have a certain day and time in mind. I can make sure I’m home. I live right next to the Orlando airport.
Chris.

RP2813 - Yes, I thought about it quite a bit before getting back into into the forums. While I do quite a few loads, none are really large. I think we will be ok - unless a queen set of sheets won't fit? If not, I already use a laundromat just down the street for larger bedding, so I'll just add two loads to that.  Thanks for the feedback on these!

Chris - I sent you a private message via the system here. Thanks!

Melissa, if it's one queen set of sheets, it should work just fine. I, too, have a standard capacity machine and just a couple days ago, I washed two full sheet sets along with 4 pillow cases. It handled it just fine. Queen bedding isn't a heck of a lot bigger than full bedding. Just follow the rule of thumb with basically any top load washer--fill the machine loosely to the top row of holes in the wash tub--and you'll be golden. :)

You will be pleased with these machines. I have seen them in person as Chris saved a Montgomery Wards set that I went down to his house to pick up. He is a great guy and you will enjoy meeting and working with him. Keep us posted on how everything is going.

Dave and I have always had a king size bed.  Our standard tub mid-'70s Maytag replaced a larger black panel Kenmore of late '70s/early '80s vintage and it handled our sheets and pillow cases just fine in a single load.  Queen size will be a piece of cake for the subject washer and dryer.

Ryner1988, FrigidaireGuy and RP2813,

Thank you for the reassurances regarding the tub size. My only concerns were sheets, and blue jeans. We wear a lot of blue jeans in this house. I always do each queen bed as a separate load - just the top, flat, plus 4 pillowcases for each bed - so they have plenty of room to tumble in the front loader we currently have. I also keep the jeans and towels loads of moderate sizes for the same reason. But a front loader uses a lot less water than TL, and my county charges us for sewer the same usage as our water gallons. I'm just a little nervous about how large of an increase I will see in our monthly bill.
