weird- a 16 pounder in an 18 body!! Just swap out the fill switch and boom boom done, an 18 pounder appears- unless they shortened the timer cycles too for fill and drain. Anybody know that ?
I'd be curious to see the BOL model that the 2 speed "16" with a polypropylene lid replaced. I have never seen one but according to the documentation I have seen, they were single speed but unlike later BOL models, had infinite water level control, had the Jet Circle Spray System, a porcelain enamel lid, the 1-18 Jet Cone agiatator and "2-18" badge.
Can anyone show a picture of a WAS machine that shows that "2-18" badge?
Patrick,
Thanks for the pic! That's an interesting model. I agree with Joe that it looks nice with the black/silver trim.
The model number of this one should be WCDAS, it's very similar to the WAS but it's a two speed model so it has a gentle cycle on the timer instead of a soak cycle.
the 16 pounders had the later 1-18 jetcone with perf. tub.
But I did have a commercial machine in my collection which was a 1-18 chassis but it had the 12 pound solid tub and Deep Action agitator in grey. So there were variants around. I didn't keep it as it was only gravity drain and I have no floor drains. ooppss should I have said that??
I looked a long time for these pictures and finally found them. Unfortunately back in the early 1980's when I took the photos the camera quality wasn't that great and I wasn't thinking in terms of details.
This is a WCDA3T washer. It was designated as a "16" on the control panel. I was able to adjust the water level regulator and made it into an "18".
This was a good machine until the bearings went out from a leaky tub seal and I discarded it not being into saving and restoring like I am today.
The dryer was a DIAS that I later sold so I could find a set that matched.
