Frigidaire 101

My searching efforts have finally paid off and I found a
WCIR-60 Washer with a suds saver. I was only able to see it for a bit today and give it a quick test drive. The machine is in good cosmetic shape and it appears to run well. Agitates and Spins. Was also told the suds saver works and plus it has a great lighted console. I will be picking it up on Saturday. But being the rank amateur I wanted to toss out a few questions to the resident experts.

Is this a mulitmatic? rollematic machine?
There is no reference to a Rapidry Spin, but does it have one?

The largest ring of the agitator is torn.. does anyone have one they could sell to repair this?

How do you release the top so that I can get to the lid hinges which appear to be loose?

Congratulations!! The WCIR-60 is a 1960 Custom Imperial Multimatic machine. Since it is an early Multimatic, I believe it spins at 850 RPM on high speed (later versions spun at 710...not sure which year this "new" speed was introduced). While not a true Rapidry machine (those spin at 1140 for Unimatics and 1010 for Rollermatics), 850 is a good speed.

You'll have to ask the Frigidaire experts about the torn agitator ring. Also, I have a Frigidaire 1-18 and the top raises by pushing in 2 clips with a putty knife, however I'm not certain that it is the same with these machines since the designs are different. Again, check with the experts on this one.

What a great find! I can sympathize with you about the pulsator parts---I am looking for the WHOLE pulsator for my '55 "Unimatic". BUT----the parts ARE out there. It just takes shopping around the more obscure parts houses and networking with different members here on our web site.

Those first (for Frigidaire) sideway's opening lids have a special kind of hinge on them I only remember them using for a few years. Yours may fall into that catagory and my actually not be loose at all. They were sort of "double-hinged". I am sure a Frigidaire "expert" will elaborate on this for me to describe it better.
