I own a Frigidaire Compact 30 drop-in range model RBG-533. Oven won't heat. Both the upper and lower elements heat up but do not get red hot anymore. The oven stopped working a couple of days ago. I heated up as normal to bake so bread (red hot), then I heard a pop (like you sometimes hear as the oven heats up). after that: The element was not longer red hot and the oven light (next to the knob) no longer was lit up.
Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

Frigidaire fame

GM Frigidaire ranges were notorious for crappy crimped terminals, so maybe you have a burnt-off wire somewhere inside the back. Other than removing the bake unit from the oven to visually check (WITH THE POWER OFF!!!!!), it would require removing the range from the cabinet. If you need directions, I have a copy of the installation manual I could scan.

Frigidaire compact 30 Electric drop in range

Is this model of self cleaning one, as Steve mentioned in the last post it could have a bad wire terminal somewhere that burned off and could be a simple fix. It is not the bake or broil element. If it’s a self cleaning model, it could be a bad heat relay, A bad heat relay can allow only 120 Volts instead of 240 V and the elements won’t get Red Hot and cook properly.

Frigidaire compact 30 range oven problem

The non-self cleaning ovens are a lot simpler. You likely either have a wire connection that has burned and failed and possibly shorted to ground or a bad oven thermostat, it’s easy to fix a bad wire connection. Generally, the oven thermostat is hard to find a replacement for if it has failed

Remove the oven from the install position. Remove the back panel and check the wiring to the two heating elements would be the first step. You may also have to get into the control panel to replace the wiring there. You also could have a problem at the clock because the power for the oven goes through the clock if your model has a clock, I assume it does .

Let us know what you find. Hopefully you can get it working again. If you have to call someone to work on it, try to find an older repair person that remembers these ovens. They were really quite simple, if I had any idea where you lived, I might know someone or someone else might know someone who could fix it.

John, SteveD,

What is the best way to remove this oven?
Does it slide out or have to be lifted out?
How far can it be moved before straining the electrical connection?

I don't want to mess anything up.

Thanks,
Mark

The weight of the range is supported by the countertop. There should be 4 thumb screws from underneath the cooktop that screw up into the countertop to secure it. The cable should be long enough tii ok allow removal without disconnecting the wire. I’d find something to set it on. Like a wooden box?
