I need so me advice on my mom's fridge, Frigidaire #FRS24XGCB. This side /by side has been a decent one . She has only one repaire and that was a new defrost element, timer and some other stuff (about 400 bucks worth) about 2007. The new problem is that the bottom of the freezer is full of ice(about a inch thick) and it will melt and run out onto the floor. I am hoping its something simple as the last repaire was a pain since they guy had to come back about 5 times and the fridge dindt run but a couple days. So he refunded the labor and it sat about a month and I plugged her in and she been going strong ever since. Thanks for any helpfull advice..Chaz

My whirlpool unit did that shortly after I bought it, turns out it was a common issue to many units and Whirlpool sent a repairman out to fix it.  The fix was so simple it's almost funny, all they did was wrap a copper wire that looks like a #14 wire around the heater coil and ran it to the drain.  The wire heats up from the coil and keeps the drain open.  Simplicity.

Yeah, I had to do that copper wire thing to my old Whirlpool top freezer model from appx 1970.  Never had a problem with it after that.  It's still keeping things cold in my partner's daughter & SIL's garage after I replaced it with the '57 GE Combination.

I'd still recommend checking the drain in the freezer, at the rear below the evaporator to make sure nothing is blocking it, before calling  a repair tech.  If you are handy enough and can locate the timer which is usually behind the front grille somewhere, you can remove the panel that covers the evaporator, advance the timer until it clicks into defrost mode, then check to make sure the heating element that melts off the frost build-up is working.  If the element is working and there's no drain blockage, then wrap the appropriate length of copper wire around the heating element and direct the remaining portion of it into the drain opening.  That should solve the problem.
