Frigidaire Sprinkler?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

A clothes sprinkler would be a bottle or container to hold water for sprinkling clothes when ironing. The cap end had holes kind of like a salt shaker. I had forgotten they existed until seeing this item. I remember mom using one when we were kids. This item is not an agitator of course. Would imagine it is a container with one end having the holes for sprinkling the clothes. It may also have been for starch before spray starch. But that's just a guess.

Back In The Day..

I remember Women back in the 50's also used soda pop bottles with a cork and aluminum sprinkler head. They filled the bottle with water and plugged it with this "sprinkler" head and "sprinkled" their laundry before ironing it. Some sprinkled a whole basketful of clothes prior to ironing, and some just sprinkled each piece as it was being ironed. I guess this was before the advent of the water spray in steam irons.
I wonder how old this Fleabay item is?

3 ring agitator clothes sprinkler

This was a promotinal item that FRIGIDAIRE included with their Custom Imperial washer and dryer pairs from 1958 to 1963.Some retail stores had them lined up on the shelves above their aisles of washers and dryers. The also had them available in the Jet Cone 1-18 style from 1972 to 1975.

Even more strange...

...to include a clothes sprinkler with the Custom Imperial dryers when the dryers themselves were equipped with automatic, built-in clothes sprinklers beginning in 1959.

Westinghouse used the Laundromat and dryer S&P shakers, as promotional gifts, Kenmore had a snow-globe S&P shaker, Speed Queen gave away stainless steel mixing bowls shaped like the wash tub, Maytag had a replica combination w/d bank. GE had tiny plastic replicas that were prizes in cereal. Lots of things to remember the brand, very fun collectibles - and take up less space than the real appliances!
