What years of Frigidaire washer had that high speed spin? I guess I'm what y'all call a Tag hag, but I really dig the way those Frigidaires washed and dried clothes! Which are the best of the best? I would like to known what I'm doing, so I can keep my eyes open while in the junk shops.

There were also the Frigidaire 'Rapidry 1000' machines later; I am not an expert but I think these were around in the mid 60s in the Rollermatic machines.    My Canadian 63 is a Multimatic (which I think were made between 1959 and 1964) and it only spins around 700 rpms.

The spin speed of domestic models...

1140 RPM on all Unimatics from 1947 to 1958.

1010 RPM for some Rollermatics 1965-70 models. The 1964 Rollermatic transmission-equipped models didn't get the faster spin speed.

Some Multimatics from 1959 to 1962 did spin to 850 RPM.

One easy way to spot the Rollermatics that spin to 1010 RPM is to look for "Rapidry 1000" on their control panels.
And unlike Unimatics that always spin at 1140 RPM, these "Rapidry 1000" models only spin to 1000 RPM after the rinse on some cycles (and extra rinse on some models). The soak and wash spin are slower.[this post was last edited: 11/22/2014-07:05]
