. . . a poignant reminder of real competition among appliance manufacturers.  The survivors have become corporate bedfellows, and one's hanging on, possibly morphing into a Lowe's or Home Depot exclusive within a few years.

Youngstown is coming to Lowes? Lol

That Sears just keeps holding on, despite a constant stream of small bites around the edges. More store closings than we can keep track of, service centers and smaller retail stores are disappearing fast. Our local Sears store, once the "A" store in the area, has more open floor space than merchandise and yet, the shelves are nearly free of stock. I have given up trying to exchange Craftsman tools for new ones, they're never in stock and the popular tools are only available in sets they can't break.

I have heard so many people over the years claim to buy appliances from Sears because service and parts were always easier to obtain, if needed, who now are starting to see things differently. The news is regularly bringing tidings of decline. I wonder if they will eventually start to lose more market share when the many LG appliances they've been selling start to fail and lose their glimmer in a few years?
