I was going through the Modern Living thread and as I scrolled over this image I had a quick flashback to eating tomato vegetable soup out of a thermos in my school lunch box.  Wild.  Had not thought of that for decades.

Kind of relates to this story I read the other day.  Go through the list in the link and I bet you can conjure up most of the smells described.

Photos of really old refrigerators trigger sense-memories for me---unfortunately, they're repulsive ones. Don't know if some early childhood experience with an old refrigerator rattled me or something, but I shudder at the sight and smell of old refrigerators. The olfactory memory is especially vivid. It's as if the computer screen had an unplugged antique refrigerator-scented scratch-and-sniff card.

I have no such negative sense memories for old washers, dryers, dishwashers or ranges. Go figure!

"olfactory memory"

I get that with seeing pictures of salt, or thinking if salt, even if it is dishwasher salt. I always end up with a salty taste! Lol
