I have just acquired a GE Filter-Flo and it has a musty/mildrew odor. I ran a load of hot water & clorox through it but it still has that smell. I would like to have some suggestions to get rid of this odor. The machine is in perfect condition with very little use. I'm thinking the owners washed in cold water and closed the lid immediately after using it.
I will post some pics soon.

Musty GE FF Washer

Hi Bob Glad you got this washer, you will need to pop the machine top up and you will then need to clean around the top of the outer tub and the bottom of the washer top itself, these areas tend to get pretty scummy on spin drain washers because of the way dirty is splashed up during the spin draining process.

THANKS JOHN

I will definitely get this done. I've got to pop the top to disconnect the lid switch also. This machine is in excellent condition. It will be a fun machine to play with. Looking forward to the August visit.

Musty GE FF

That smell brings back memories! My grandmother had about a 1978 MOL GE FF washer model WWA8344VCLWH, which I now have. As long as I can remember, that washer always smelled musty. I haven't run that washer in a few years, but whenever I fire it up, I open the lid and the smell takes me back to when I was a toddler.

Perhaps I should put it back in the rotation,
Dave

PS: I like to leave its lid open so it can dry out properly. No sense in tempting rust.
