Not such easy drum access. The door is so close to the floor that you have to open the door before placing the laundry basket in front of the opening which can give things a chance to drop out on the floor. Whirlpool-designed dryers have a much more successful solution to the wide opening than GE/Hotpoint with that deep door plug and throat that collected lint. That wispy lint around the opening is a real pain as you unload laundry. The dryer has a nice big drum, but the dryer needed a few refinements that GE did not make.

Without witnessing function and form together, I had a long pause, looking at what looks like a vault "plug"...and I asked myself, why did they design that as such ..what were the designing foundations or premises to say, "this is functionally good, better or best"(whatever the reasoning). Then I decided to have a cookie.
