I don't know the exact model yet: the efficiency tag on the front upper right hand corner reads WWA8800M, WWA8806M, WWA8808M.
My Brother and his wife own this GE Filter-flo Washing machine. My brother said they purchased it locally (Marshall, MN) in 1990. His wife said the unit stopped draining a 5 months back and they didn't know where to turn to have it repaired. Then to make matters worse, their basement took in 5 inches of water 3 months ago which got inside the unit. Yesterday, I decided to take a look. My nephew and I removed the lauan board back panel to find the unit was still wet inside. I knew right away the needed repairs are more than what I can do on my own. Originally, I thought the pump would need to be replaced but now I’m worried given the whoe washer sat in 5 inches of water for a few days. I called the local dealer and they were only interested in selling a new unit.
My Questions: Can a wet motor work after it dries or be rebuilt? Is there a repair tutorial available for the filter-flo? Can someone walk me through the repairs? It appears that the repair would need to occur through the tub down or from bottom. Does anyone know of a repair person in Southwest Minnesota? I read how to locate the actual model number inside the control panel. I’m hoping someone can tell the model by looking at the photos. Thanks in advance.
