GE filter-flo reincarnation

Hello everybody,
I have been thinking about the GE filter-flos for sometime. What if GE came out with the reincarnation of the filter-flos?
What would it look like? What would it sound like? I think they should go back to the filter-flos with minibaskets and ramped activators. What would each phase of the cycle sound like? For example normal cycle. Let's say it was a 2 speed model with various speed combinations - the normal cycle being full speed wash and full speed spin for example.
What would it smell like? What if they were to meet the 2018 federal guidelines? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

It certainly would be a good machine compared to everything else on the market. The one improvement that could be made is to down size the oversized outer tub that was originally designed for the old solid tub models. It really was a complete waste of water for no reason other than GE being too cheap to modify the tooling.

They could've made the filter-flo more beefy than ever! They could've used a heavy-duty transmission with the same gear oil that they used in their filter-flo washer with everything made of stainless steel! They could've made the wash tubs bigger and even heavier!
What sounds do you think they'd make?

It would seem if you wanted a GE washer built like the old FF today GE couldn't do that due to the new EPA/DOE regs.You will have to get your FF washer from the swap shop if they have any!With the 2018 regs on us bet older old school machines will be in demand from swap shops!

What if they were able to pull it off? What if they made an HE filter flo?

Wasn't the outer tub on Filter-Flos fixed to the cabinet? It seems to me like they would have to change that part of the design to make a dent in water consumption.

You are probably right, I don't know all that much about FilterFlo design. I just know that the water consumption is ridiculous for the capacity.

The original design used overflow for the FilterFlo process ... the inner solid tub filled and overflowed enough to maintain the pumped flow during agitation.  The filter didn't function on less than a full fill.  That was "fixed" with the change to a perforated inner basket but the outer tub size and construction was not changed ... it's large enough for the inner basket to oscillate inside of it during spin, which is the cause of the large water usage.  The whole thing is pretty much the full opposite of the HE concept.

The outer tub was fixed to the cabinet and the suspension system was alined with bricks. They can update their suspension system to where there is barely any vibration. They could also upgrade the pump to where it is dual purpose - recirculation/filtering and draing all at the highest velocity allowable. They could also upgrade the main drive motor to the toughest build quality and the biggest size possible. Same goes for their transmissions. They could make the transmission as big as possible and the toughest built one at that. They could also do a 7 ribbed belt to rival Speed Queen and Maytag.
