Hi there! I have a beautiful GE Mobile Maid. One Owner - and I got the receipt and the notes on her purchase plan with it when I got the dishwasher!

It is in beautiful condition, except there is bubbling in the enamel below the jet-dry cup. Has anyone else encountered this? What is going on here? Can I fix it? Do I need to be worried?

Bubbling of Plastisol liner

Normally is an indication of water leaking between that material and metal beneath. Basically you've got a cancer that will eat away at the underlying metal and sooner or later create a hole. Once that happens the machine will be useless. If the liner is breached and small amounts of water continuously leak into the motor it can cause the thing to short circuit.

You can also turn the DW on its side (empty of water) to see if there are any rust holes and or traces of water leaks on the underside. Finding any is a sure sign the Plastisol liner is leaking.

You can read all about GE Mobile Maids in the archives including various methods of repair. Original repair tools and substances are NLA, so you'll have to improvise.

I'd first start by taking all racks out of the DW and with a strong light looking for any cuts or holes in the Plastisol. This usually happened when someone dropped a knife or other sharp object into the DW and it hit the bottom of tub.
