Hello everyone. Alas, I have reached capacity for my collection and have acquired something new, so something has to go!
I have decided to part with my GE Programmed Washer in Coppertone. It is in good condition and runs well.
Some history:
When I acquired it the original tub was rusting very badly at the top. Unfortunately the agitator was completely frozen to the shaft. No manner of heating or pulling techniques would pry it loose so it had to be cracked to remove it. This also damaged the drive shaft of the transmission.
I replaced the transmission with a rebuilt one, replaced the basket, put in a brand new boot & clamps, applied POR 15 to all areas of rust inside the tub (mostly surface rust but I wanted to make sure there would be no issues). I also had to change the agitator. I could not find a three vane agitator, but did find a black Super 14 Activator & a white one. I was unable to get the drive spline completely into the black one, but I kept it. I just used the white one. It also has a mini-basket & fabric softener dispenser (none original). The clutch is a little noisy, but runs fine; spin pickup is superb. I will include the black agitator (along with the filter pan that goes with it).
The machine is being offered for free, but you have to pay the shipping. I can hold it for about a month if someone wants it, but after that I will try to sell it locally or have it scrapped. I hate to do that, but I don’t have room to keep it.
I hope someone would like it; it’s a pretty cool machine with lots of features.
