I found another problem on the frig.

It appears my cam risers are going out.
A piece broke off of one of the cam risers
on the freezer door. It still works but is
a bit sticky. Is this replacement easy?
I see that the water line goes through the
bottom hinge and would need to be taken apart.

Here the hinge kit with both cam risers:

Here is one cam riser:

Also my toe kickplate has the right tab
broken off of it. There's no way I would
pay 41 bucks for this piece of plastic.
Any idea on how to get a used one?

Toe Kickplate:

thanks a million!

You have to disconnect the water line that runs through the freezer door. When you take off the kickplate you will see a plastic union that either snaps apart or unscrews. Then go to the top hinge of the freezer door and remove the hinge cover. You will see a disconect plug for the freezer door dispenser. Remove the top hinge screws, prolly 5/16 or 3/8 and lift the door off the bottom hinge. I think you replace both pieces of the cam riser...it may already be part of the lower hinge. Replace the cam riser that is at the bottom of the freezer door and reassemble everything. Hope this helps!

Yes, that helps!

I'm not sure I'll get to it right away.

How critical is this? The door still works although it's
a bit sticky. A broken piece came off one of the cam risers.

If anyone has a used kickplate I may be interested. I can't
see paying 41 bucks for a piece of molded plastic. Mine has
one of the tabs broken off of it. I can probably glue something
on it to make it work.

Thank you COLDSPOT66!
It definitely helps us newbies to have a walk
though.

FYI

I have replaced the cam riser/kit with the door still on the unit. The door must be carefully proped from the bottom and is to remain closed. Just for re-assurance, it helps to have some keep a hand on the door just to make sure it doesnt move. I have a rubber malet that was just the right height to slide under the bottom of the door. It raised the door just enough off the bottom hinge that it will let you remove and replace the hinge/cam without removing the door. You WILL need a short 1/4 or 5/16 socket to remove the other cam off of the bottom of the door itself. If you order the door hinge, it should come as a "kit" with the bottom hinge and cam riser attaced and also another cam riser for the bottom of the door.

Hope this helps.

Yes, thanks.

I assume I still need to disconnect the water line that runs through it. I think I saw a coupler of some sort. I hope it doesn't give me trouble :-)
