this waffle/sandwich maker belonged to my Aunt and Uncle, remember making grilled cheese sandwiches in the 70's. All of a sudden I went to make toast which it did beautifully and it wouldn't heat up. i have bought a toaster but don't want to give it up. Bakelite handles and plug. any suggestions?

Thanks, Mike

Tom makes a good point... I've had a few of these GE units over the years and had a few where the connection from the power cord to the heating units broke.  On some of the units, they were welded using silver solder, but I've repaired them using a crimp connector.
