General Electric is planning to move its 115-year-old X-ray division from Waukesha, Wis., to Beijing. In addition to moving the headquarters, the company will invest $2 billion in China and train more than 65 engineers and create six research centers.

This is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the United States last year. but paid no taxes-the same company that employs more people overseas than it does in the united States.

So let me get this straight. President Obama appointed GE Chairman Jeff Immelt to head his commission on job creation (job czar). Jeff Immelt is supposed to help create jobs.

I guess the President forgot to tell him in which country he was supposed to be creating those jobs.

If this doesn’t show you the total lack of leadership of this President, I don’t know what does.

Think about it before you buy a GE product.

sooo sad

The GE I love has long disapprearaed. Neutron Jack (Jack Welsh) started the ruination of GE, and it continued when he hand picked Jeff Immelt as the next CEO. Jeff is a sycophant with a Capital "S". Of course that is why Welsh hired him.

Welsh, Obama and Immelt, I am sure, are very happy with each other.

Obama knew about this move before he appointed Immelt.

Other things Immelt did to GE:

Dumped the historic GE stylized logo for a simple block letter GE. The reason for this was he wants the American public to forget that GE is a consumer electronics company.

Dumped the HVAC division from GE simply because "I don't like HVAC."

OK, he is going to employ new people in Kentucky. From what I read those are low wage earning jobs that will come with no benefits. They'd probably make more money staying on unemployment.

A few weeks ago 60 minutes (the news documentary show) interviewed Immelt. I wasn't impressed. His attitude is that GE is no longer an American company, but a global company. Therefore it is his duty to place his factories in the countries that buy his products. So he'll continue to move jobs out of the US to other countries.

Who in their right mind would hire this guy to be a "jobs czar"? It seems that South America is going to be the next China for US companies. It's just greed, greed and more greed.

The medical jobs...

The GE medical jobs are possibly because of the new taxes that the healthcare act put on medical devices.

When I heard the news about the division move, and that 'no jobs will be lost' I literally gasped; NO JOBS ARE LOST IN GENERAL ELECTRIC BUT LOTS OF JOBS ARE LOST IN THE USA. It's like when companies call RIFs 'redeployments' because they are putting a headcount from one division into another one.

Disgusting.

When I heard that Immelt was the new 'jobs Czar' it was then that I realized that the Democrats were really Republicans in drag.

No jobs cuts means that their net jobs will not change, yes?

I cannot imagine that they will keep the US staff when producing the stuff in China.
