In a couple of days, the German Expo will begin - September 4th to 9th in Berlin. Actually, this expo is all about consumer electronics but as of 2008, I think, appliance manufacturers are also represented. So, I took a little look through the press rooms of some manufacturers to see, whether they already have some info available.
MIELE - Unfortunately, all Miele have to say about this year's Expo is that their show is gonna be bigger and better than last year. No news about new appliances, really.
BOSCH/SIEMENS - Their press room does say that they have over a 100 innovations this year - but I think that includes just about any innovation they came up with this year. However, they will have some all-new appliances on show. First, their washers will finally be updated with brush-less motors. Also, they will be featuring varioPerfect technology and Anti-Vibration design. Their new TOL line up of fridges and freezer is called CoolProfessional and are of course labeled A++ for energy efficiency.
They also have new dishwashers: ActiveWater smart. 60 cm wide and either 60 or 45 cm tall. It's part of their modular design, which allows you to basically build a wall of small built-in appliances (e.g. espresso machine, steamer, speed oven...) These dishwashers hold 8 or 6 place settings respectively. The larger one with two racks even has most of the features of the full-sized machines: varioSpeed, Extra Drying, Sanitize and powerZone. However, at 1299 and 1439 Euros they are also super expensive!

AEG/ELECTROLUX - have the most informative press room so far with lots of innovations. Their revised heat-pump dryer now uses 43% less energy than what is required to get an A rating for energy efficiency - so it's a little bit more efficient than the competitors by Bosch and Miele. It has two motors so that, if you select the Wool or Silk cycles, the drum will rotate slower. Its Night Cycle is the quietest on the market. Special cycles include: Freshening, Microfibre, Mix, Viscose, Bedding, Shirts, Easy Ironing Plus, Jeans and Sports Wear. Only thing this dryer does not have is the steam feature. It retails for a whooping 1329 Euros! Dryer picture
Their CuliSense oven senses type and weight of the food you put in it (after you made some initial selections) and adjusts the cooking process by itself. Almost 3000 Euros. CuliSense picture
New cook tops have: EcoTimer to shut the heating element down some minutes before the entered cooking time ends to take advantage of residual heat. CountUp timer. OptiHeat to more precisely display the residual temp and sensors that allow you to slide your finger across the cooktop to select the heat output (Bosch calls it touchSlider and sells it for a couple of months already). Cook top pictureTheir absolute top-model even has a TFT screen! Look!
Noting much to say about dishwashers. Picture
Two new washing machines are equipped with Anti-Allergy cycles, which have an extended wash at 60*C and four rinses see here and here.
