It's just not fair....

I walk around carrying food and looking like that all the time, and no oversized stoves or giant burners ever menace me! Maybe I should stock up on cute little housedresses and color-coordinated aprons...

Is that an original graphic? It looks almost Soviet in it's composition

It's something how, for so many years, Hotpoint strove for symmetry by balancing the clock and the minute timer in various positions on the control panel. A few of their ranges over the years were ugly in the extreme, but they were the exceptions. Hotpoint ranges were far more innovative than GE, sometimes going with things not so good, like the bake element under the oven liner which slowly destroyed the bottom of the oven then as now. Maybe because of experiences and people associated with the mid 50s models with the copper accents, they are way up on my list of favorites. When the topic of 50s kitchen ranges comes up, I think of our next door neighbors' 40 inch Hotpoint in their pine paneled kitchen. One nice late afternoon, mom took the Presto model "40" and a pot roast over there to show our neighbor how to use a pressure cooker and I remember the discussion about which heat to use to maintain 15 lbs of pressure. We were given the double oven version of that range 20 years ago after the first newspaper article about our collection. It is one of our many appliance dreams that have been brought to fruition.
