Wow, it's HEAVY! Ordered it directly from KA so it's genuine.

Old coated beater 123g new SS beater 345g!

BTW did the dime test, still spot on.  Found I purchased it 10/7/92, never adjusted it, no service at all. Might want to check the brushes at some point, no grease leaks so I will leave well enough alone.

Thanks Matt

My coated beater is 48 years old. It has come cracks in the coating. Thank you for letting us know about the stainless steel beater. I have held off on getting a replacement because I saw the new beaters did not have the little scraper projection. Do you find it makes much difference?

Be well.

Shape wise it's an exact copy of the original. That said I expect it to operate in a similar manner.  I have not used it yet so I can't comment on that.  I looked at a number of knock-offs on AZ but KA was having a sale and I was ordering other things, so I tossed it in my basket for $29.

Thanks Matt.  I'd never heard of this test before.  I'll check out my vintage K-45 and adjust accordingly if necessary.

We're winding down from citrus overload in these parts.  I gave the neighbors a box of this year's exceptionally sweet and flavorful navel oranges from my tree and they gave me a bag of huge lemons in return, so I'm planning to make a lemon meringue pie, which is one of my favorites.  I'm going to assume that the dime adjustment covers the whisk as well.

Picture is of oranges I gathered up after a windy night in early March.  I'm so tired of them posting upside down . . . and yes, that's a poinsettia cutting in the background.  I don't know why I even bother.

Have restored a couple of KAs now, bought several things from Mr. Mixer.  Good video instructions and tips.

I haven't installed one of the Everdime washers on a tilt-head mixer, my Hobart is a bowl-lift model.  Mom has a tilt-head so may try one on that just for fun.  It helps keep the head from bouncing with heavy loads of dough, etc.
