It does look like a great site. I'm tired of paying $200 for a pair of glasses - esp when I go through a set of lenses about once every year or two (scratches from working the yard or in the shop). I get progressive lenses which is the majority of the cost, but with Zenni I could get glasses and frames for the cost of just the frames (or less) at most other optometrists.

Well, so how do you go about getting them fitted?
Walk into any store and see about getting them "adjusted"?
Wouldn't it be obvious what you were up to?

My partner has been in eyewear for years

He designs eyewear for a company owned by one of our good friends. They specialize in higher end reading glasses. They are doing very well and have a strong following of customers who buy the glasses and have them fit with prescription lenses. Also - regarding adjustments - most optical outlets that sell/fit glasses are usually happy to adjust your frames free of charge. Now, if you showed up with all 3 of the frames that you just bought, that might be a different story.

Don't have a fit

Fitting metal frame glasses is pretty easy. Plastic frames require heating to fit... but I don't see why dipping the temple ear pieces into some boiling water wouldn't do pretty much the same thing. The nose pieces can be a bit tricky - I've seen opticians use a special kind of pliers to grab the fitting so that they don't break it off, but I've not had a problem just using my fingers to bend the nose piece into proper position.

Over the years I've gotten to know pretty well how my glasses need to be adjusted to fit correctly. I confess to getting a bit impatient when an optician re-invents the wheel for me ;-).
