For the last year or so, we've been checking out the different brands of "dark chocolate"...strictly for the medicinal benefits, of course! Since the news that dark chocolate is good for your heart, we've allowed ourselves a tiny treat every evening...not a whole bar, just a square or two each...;-) When we started this, we had no idea there was such a variation in flavor. While we've found some really good ones as well as some duds along the way, one thing is for sure, neither of us can stand "milk chocolate" anymore. Some brands we've tried and liked are "Dolphin" (from Belgium...they have an amazing 88% bar) and "Dagoba" (an organic, with lots of variety and different concentrations.) One big disappointment was the "Lindt" brand, seen everywhere...it's just not that good-tasting compared to some of the others.
One of the most pleasant surprises we've had lately is an Italian chocolate that goes by the brand of "Green and Blacks"...it is very reasonably priced (we first found it on sale two bars for five bucks) and has the most amazing flavor. They do an excellent 70%, and and 85% that is just the best we've tried yet. We've also tried their "Espresso" and it's good, too. WOnderful thing about this is that it's at our "regular" grocery store, and we don't have to go to the high-priced "natural food store" to get it.
If y'all can find it where you are, definitely give it a try. Their 85% is just incredible!
