Has anyone encountered a Maytag Neptune with a broken spider arm.

First of all. I posted in imperial because Neptunes with serial numbers dating 1997.1998,1999 and 2000 are all turning 20 this year. Models I'm referring to are MLG2000AWW,MAH3000AWW,MAH4000AWW,MAH5500BWW,MAH6500AWW,MAH7500AWW. or any neptune with a solid door panel. The Spider Arm on the MAH4000AWQ I worked on showed no signs of corrosion are these ones coated or are these Stainless Steel?

Are plain aluminum-pot metal like about all others, I have never seen any company that coats the metal,[ often coatings can make corrosion worse by trapping moisture under the coatings ]

Maytag had fairly robust spider arms but I have seen several corrode to the point of failure [ the thing busted ] So if you are rebuilding a machine and it is very corroded you probably do not want to use that spider.

Spiders in front load washers typically goes because of bad usage and maintenance.
Warm or cold wash and liquids only.
70% of washers I have seen at the dump were like 5-6 years old and ends there for spider or seal-bearing issues.
Beside the known very poor quality of today's appliances there is also the tendency of today's housekeepers to run warm or quick cycles only and use of liquids or worse pods.
Liquids are known for creating a gunk build up in the outer tub and spiders, often combined with the undissolved body fat and fats in general due to barely warm-cold and quick cycles, plus if there is a over use of softener (which is so common today to cover the stink due to these bad washing habits) then it worsens it as softeners are basically fats and attaches to the other gunk.
This gunk then starts an acidic fermentation, especially when the dumb owner leaves the door closed after use, beside the "my washer stinks" problem you have corrosion of the aluminum of spiders and or seals going rotten due to fermentation.
It was the case of many Neptunes also.
