OK i don;t want to start a "church social" but come on you Suzy Homemakers and dig out your Easy Bake Ovens.....since many of you guys have vintage stoves i thought maybe you need a vintage recipe....not my mother's recipe but something she used to make when she was younger and i still make it today....she called it a Depression Cake...from that era when she couldn't afford to buy eggs on her relief checks so she did with what she had to get by on...so here goes
into a ziplock bag(no bowls to clean) or sunbeam mixmaster(yummy..beaters to lick)
3 cups flour...all purpose
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup water
1 cup cooled strong coffee
2/3 cup crisco oil
2 tsp. vanilla
knead or mix all ingredients together
pour into either 2 - 9" round cake pans or a bundt(preferred)
350 degree oven --- for about 30-35 minutes
this is a great recipe because it doesn't use eggs...great for low cholesterol diets...lol
hope you guys like it......enjoy!
let me know what you think?
