I’m seeking some help to diagnose the issue with my washing machine. Can you please review and provide some guidance? Thanks in advance!

Machine Type: Washing Machine
Manufacturer: Whirlpool
Model: WTW4800BQ0
Serial Number: C41523167

Events that lead to the issue:
-Turn the knobs to select Temperature, Cycle and Water Level

-Touch electronic fill button (to begin cycle)

-Add clothing and detergent

-Close lid

-Machine continues to fill with water as normal

-Once machine is filled the machine never begins the selected cycle. It will instead click, discharge all water and the pump runs for a long time.
-Machine stops

I’ll let some time pass and restart, or, unplug the machine, let 5 minutes pass and plug the machine back in.

Once I restart the machine it will either advance to the cycle and run as normal or drain as described above. Sometimes the machine will not advance to the cycle until the third or fourth attempt.

Thanks again everyone!

Does it flash an error code when it aborts the cycle?

If any cycle progression lights are flashing in sequence this would be helpful in determining the problem.  There are Youtube videos of how to put the machine into diagnostic mode and read any error code it throws.  Try this and let us know what happens.  Otherwise I'm sure someone here with more knowledge than me will know what is wrong.

It's a VMW.  Lotta VMW trouble comes from flaky mode shifters (aka actuator).  Lid locks are also a fairly common source.

As mentioned above, there are YouTube vids on how to get into diagnostics to read fault codes and/or run manual function tests.

Or someone here can surely outline the procedure.

There should be a tech sheet in a pocket glued to the inside of the machine front but the top kinda needs to be raised up for access to reach it.

UPDATE ON WASHER CODE FOUND

I put it into diagnostic mode and once that happened it tripped a fill code which means the error is somewhere in the fill system do you guys know what this part could be and where could I get it?

Thank you and and have a good day.

Here is the original post in case any of you guys need any of the original information and or symptoms.

Again, which specific code(s) are you finding?  How to proceed depends on the code(s).

The Tech Sheet for your model lists 22 fault codes (including No Code), of which perhaps 6 could be considered related to filling.

Are you reading all the stored codes?  There may 1, 2, 3, or 4 stored codes.

After accessing diagnostic mode (all cycle lights flashing On - Off at 1/2-second intervals) ...

Turn the knob until only Done is lit, then press Start.
The first code is displayed.
Turn the knob clockwise one click for each of up to 3 more stored codes (or turn counterclockwise to back up the reading).

Codes are read in two parts -- F# and E# ... example F2E1.
- First part has the first light (usually labeled Fill or Sensing) and none or one or more of the others (Wash, Rinse, Spin, Done) lit for 1/2 second.  That is the F# part of the code.
- All lights off for 1/2 second.
- Then the first light is off and one or more of the others is lit for 1/2 second.  That is the E# part of the code.
- All lights off for 1/2 second.
- The code repeats until the knob is turned for another code.

The number of the F or E part is determined by the Wash light = 8, Rinse = 4, Spin = 2, Done = 1.  None is 0.
Add together the values to get the number.  First light, plus Spin and Done is F3 (2+1) for example.  First light and no others is F0.
