Earlier this summer I purchased a 1970 900 Series Piano Key Washer.

It has purred like a kitten and been a great washer.

Last week I had a load of towels in it and had the lid open and got busy.

When I returned it was already at the beginning of he rinse and just timed through the first spin because of the safety switch.

I don't know if that was just a coincidence or what but after that the spins became very load with vibration.

It looks like the outer tub is banding slightly.

Is this the beginning of the tub bearings going out? Could it cycling through the spin with just the motor humming while the lid was up added to this problem?

It was also a heavier load of large bath towels.

Anyway, I love this machine. I'm not the least bit mechanical. Is it worth having a repairman come look at it.?

If I contiue to run it with the vibration and banging is it the beginning of the end?

Thanks so much!

It's normal the agitator will rotate/spin one or two revolutions when the cycle end.
Your snubber plate may need to be cleaned as well as the plastic snubber needs to be scruff up on concrete.
Please post a video so we can help you!
Please excuse the dirty tub ring, washer is in storage.

NowI notice that the agitator moves a little bit as the spin cycle ends.
Moves how? Oscillates a couple strokes like agitation? Or spins a couple revolutions after the basket has braked?

Thank you Larry!

Is it easy to lift the lid up on the Lady? So you just unhook that wishbone looking thing and the little plate is the snubber?

The snubber is the part that fits into the spring.

The top is latched by spring clips a couple inches in from each front corner. Slip a putty knife into the seam to depress the clips while lifting the top ... or pulling simultaneously sharply forward and upwards on the top usually will get it open.

Your welcome,

Do as Rich recommend but pull the machine 10 inches away from the wall to open the top fully to avoid control panel damage!

Pull up on the metal snubber holder with one hand and slightly push the plastic snubber with the other hand. Soapy water may have splashed on this area and became too slippery for the snubber to reduce excessive vibration!

Before lifting the lid, it might be a good idea to Firmly tape the lid(S) shut, so when you lift the top, they don't go flying and possibly damage something.

thanks so much! Interesting thing happened.

So I had a toilet over flow so had some towels that I wanted to sanitize. I did 2 loads of towels in hot water with bleach in the dispenser in a row. By the time the last load was done and spinning. The machine is back to being quiet again.

I did a third load and it was spinning just fine. Any ideas if this could have resolved the problem with the hot water and bleach in the machine?

I'm thrilled, but stumped.
