Hi guys,

Spending a few days in Hong Kong and just come across this very interesting washer manufactured by Hitachi. Looks really cool. Over 10 kg load with 1600 rpm spin. It has a gravity drain with no pump which is odd but it is a very advanced washer dryer and would love to get one but alas Hitachi no longer supply white goods in Australia, not sure about the US market but I suspect not. Hitachi seems to be mainly for the Asian market.

Check it out. User Manuel is very informative. Look forward to comments etc.

Cheers

Simon

Wow, as much as I like Hitachi air-conditioners, which I think are the best on the market, this machine sure is an eyesore! And doesn't self heat nor does any cycle in hot water! GROSS.
Plus gravity drain?! What an oddity!

But for less than 1700€ I think it might be a valuable purchase if I were and Asian in need of a combo! At least is not made in China!

Otherwise give me a Candy combo everyday!

All Japanese washing machines uses cold water to wash and has gravity drain, that's why they are placed over a kind of "shower tray".

How interesting are all those differences between washing machines and living habits :)

The machine does have a hot wash option. Basically it blows heated air onto the recirculating stream of water, somehow heating it. This is what i got from the manual anyway :-) That manual sure is hefty!

Drum Size?

what do they mean when they say "About 61cm Diameter Big Drum" it is a drum that's likely to be about 61cm, long? wide? deep? ..........that is most vague and pointless description I have ever seen.............just another gadget laden pile-of-shite I suspect.
Hitachi should stick to what they used to best

Cold water washing

I think the poor description of the drum size may be a translation issue. I have the brochure which is mostly in Chinese but some English which is a funny translation. I find that the instruction manuals I have for my LG washer and LG dish washer read a little strange and am sure it is the translation in to english that is the issue.

Looking at the machine in the store the drum was large in diameter but was quite shallow in depth. I do like the angle of the drum in this machine.

I didn't notice the lack of hot water washing. Blowing hot air on to water jets sounds like a poor way to heat the water. Mind you in Auatralia cold water washing is very popular but only in TL machine. Not sure cold water in FL washers is very hygienic. I never use cold water washing even in my TL machines except the large fisher and paykel intuitive which has a hot water recirculation before it fills with cold water to do the agitation part of the wash. It does a great job I have to say.
