I now have my dishwasher in my pantry. It is a heavy piece of machinery. I called Modern Part's house in Parma OH and Larry the owner told me that he has no seals for it because it is a KDS14. So I am left with calling someone local here. I would like to get as many parts for it as possible. The machine has hardly been used judging by the yellow tags and the 'under carriage in pristine condition. So I have to test it first before plumbing it in. It is gravity drainage. Does anyone have suggestion as to how long the seal will last and other sources for parts??

hobart might still have a couple

floating around somewhere in their offices. i bought 2 last year from the cinti office and they had them sent from other locations. i was told at the time there were 2 left. was gonna buy them but decided not to as none of mine need them. i have a kd-14, 2 kd-12's and a kd2p toploader and all run fine with no leaks! so you may not even need one.

but if you are interested i would give hobart a call.

good luck!

HI

I would test it first. Do you know if it has leaks ?

I would energize or close the drain valve and give it a hot water soak for an hour.

You maybe surprised that the machine won't leak. Good Luck and if you would post some pics please. Thanks, Eddie

Thanks for the info guys. I'll call Hobart. I'll post pictures as soon as I get the machine rigged outside for a test.

Hobart??? Watch out for a run around!

I will bet that they will give you the run around as soon as you say "Kitchenaid."

Don't tell them that you are looking for a KA seal.
There may not be anyone in your local office who even knows that Hobart owned KA at one time.

Just ask for part number 77107 which is the seal and they can check and see if there are any left in the country.
Just for the record, even when it was owned by Hobart, most of the HOBART offices did NOT service the KA domestic line of major appliances. Most only did the mixers and coffee mills because they were carry in items. The heavy service was left to independent repair companies and distributors.

If they do ask you what model it is for, just tell them it is for a model "UM-4 Undercounter machine.
