My kitchen as of late had become a disaster area of clutter so I finally bit the bullet, went to IKEA and bought one of those galvanized shelf units many of you already have to put things on and did a lot of decluttering. I can actually see my countertops again. I should have take a before shot.
Here a view from the diningroom.
Still need to replace that ugly phone with something better, put my chrome sunburst clock up and I wished there was somewhere we could put that garbage compactor other than in the aisle, but it's so handy to have close.. next time I'll have one built in.. We use it continually as we don't have garbage collection out here in the sticks.
Also that awful ceiling light over the nook area came with the house and still has to go along with the one over the sink. Some paint on the walls is long overdue as well.

View number two.

Here's the shelf full of my stuff. Why didn't I get one sooner fool that I am. Please don't look at all the junk stuffed on top of the cupboards, just my lovely radarange. Partner refuses to let me put an RR10 on the mw shelf because he likes that GE, actually I do as well, it's just ugly, but it cooks great, has a shelf and I proof my bread in it. I guess I can't have my way all the time.

My next project is to get rid of that lino floor as well as all the wall to wall carpet on that floor and replace it with a laminate. Having much leisure time now whilst I was at IKEA I noticed they were looking for staff so in went my name for part time work and the ensuing discount on my new floor. I'm not that big a fool. I also applied at Costco and they actually called back today while I was out..
My thought is to stay away from a traditional "wood" laminate and go with one of those ones that looks like slate or something else.

Only the astute would notice the Philips (HB) blender sitting on the top of that new shelf. I just picked that up today for a couple of bucks and a good cleaning, works like a charm but it's much to mundane for top billing. LOL

I love IKEA! We had the best time wandering down the paths of the IKEA in Minneapolis in December. I've thought about getting a couple of those shelving units for the same reason - perfect for small apps and vacuums.

Your kitchen looks very tidy and clean - puts mine to shame. It would be dangerous for me to have that much space in the kitchen!

The GE is somewhat larger inside and also has a shelf, a probe, and is fully sensor automatic. The sensor works really well for everything. The other thing I like is it doesn't have a turntable as don't the RR's. It cooks very evenly without one.

Greg; last year they closed our old IKEA which was probably about 20 y.o. and built a new one that is about 5 times the size on two floors. Lots of nifty stuff. It's like a rats maze if you don't follow the pathway. They seem like a great company to work for even part time, heck I don't care what I do, pull in shopping carts from the parking lot, doesn't matter to me anymore. I've done my corporate time and hated it. There's also a new Costco opening on the far reaches of town.. store #3 or 4 here in town and they're looking for part time and full time. The labor shortage is severe here, everywhere is desperate for staff, offering sign up bonuses, trips to Mexico, increased minimum wages, anything to get people. BTW the shelf unit is called OMAR,, what you see in my pic is actually two units one on top of the other,, 3 shelves each.

I love IKEA

We also got a new improved IKEA here in Houston. The place is awesome! 2 floors, 99 cent breakfast, and some of those showrooms of kitchens are to die for! Easy to spend 2-3 hours in there at a time.

I have gone twice in the last few weeks...and spent way too much money.

Nice place to learn Dutch! (?) LOL

I'm into the Groggy line! lol

Good luck petek.

I love Omar!!

I have a kind of Omar too in my kitchen. I bought it before Ikea had it in their productline, I think I got it from some DIY store. Didn't Martha Stewart have a similar rack in her Kmart line?

Overhere Ikea opened an improved store too. It's 3 times bigger than the old one. A friend of mine got lost and had to ask for the way out!
