HOORAY!!! My Radarange is back in the kitchen

Tonight I was reheating some leftover spaghetti and our elderly GE wasn't heating so I've brought back my old Radarange out of storage in moms garage since the great move east of 06. Washed it down, polished the metal and she's as good as new. The picture makes it look awful but that is reflections, it's shiny shiny shiny.. I used Maas metal polish on it.
Can you believe the one I live with told me to run over to Walmart and buy a new one...geesh..

Hi Ben.. yup it's an October 1976 model 7 so it'll be 33 this year LOL
How much do these weigh I don't know.. I have lifted it by myself when I originally bought it back in Calgary and snuck it in the house but I can't really lift it anymore. I'd guess about 60-70 pounds of awkward weight?

Looking good! My grandmother had the same style, but hers was a few years older than yours. Built like Sherman tank and will last longer than the life of 8 new microwaves, combined!

Love those Radar Ranges

I remember seeing alot of those in the late 70`s .

Bet that puppy cost nearly $1000.00 when new - I know ours did
We got it in 1982 It had the NEW electronic led touch pad.

Pete, that's a beautiful oven. Does the Cookmatic slider still work?

The sliders still working, all it needs is a replacement lightbulb. I'm feeling bad about my old GE. It was TOL in its day mid 80's. What I like about it, the GE, is that the auto-cook, auto-roast and auto-defrost features all worked so well as did the probe AND it didn't need a turntable. I think I'm going to have to keep it and repair it eventually. I'd hate to toss it. If I only had a kitchen like our last with enough room for the two of them.

OMG... There's the Panasonic Skylight I've also been wanting for years... I know I've mentioned it on here years back but could never find a picture of one and was beginning to think I'd lost my marbles and it never existed except in my mind..
But I do remember seeing them for sale, in 1975 in Vancouver, in Millars Electronics on Davie Street near Burrard!!!
They exist.

Louis,, yup I got the cook book and I've got some Amana corningware browning plates as well.
Cause if it doesn't say Amana it's NOT a Radarange!!!!!

Barbara Hale says "If it doesn't say Amana, it isn't a Radarange Microwave oven"
My Mom bought one of those in 1974. It was $500 something then. To buy a piece of quality stainless steal like that now it would surely be $1,500 or more.

I thought I had heard there aren't even any American (U.S.) made Microwaves now. Used to be if you couldn't afford Amana, then you had to have Litton.
