Hoover 0307 Single Tub

Hi I have just purchased one of these but it hasn't been delivered yet. I know there is a copy of the maintenance manual on this forum. However I had one or two other questions. I have a Hoover w3590 so I tend to compare things to that. Incidentally I am needing a fill/empty hose for that and they seem to be obsolete. I have managed to get new hoses for the back (The grey half hose)

The 0307

1) The hose is clearly perished I was wondering about the dimensions to makeup an appropriate new hose

2)Is the belt the same as a w3590 or similar and where would I get an equivalent if it is not useable.

3) What type of Motor does it use. Is it the sort of thing that can be rebuilt by someone who is competent and are there equivalents available if it was beyond repair.
I think all my other questions are about cosmetic matters so I would be better to wait until I get the machine to see what condition the casing is in.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi Alex

Welcome to AW.

What you are describing does not sound like a 307 which has the hose at the front LH side and gravity drain. It is the first machine pictured below.

What you are describing sounds more like the later series, which is the second picture below which came without wringer, manual wringer or powered wringer.

These machines were largely unchanged apart from some styling differences throughout their life - some 30 plus years. As you have the grey hose for the back I am assuming you mean the internal hose from the pump up to the exit point at the top of the machine. If so, car heater hose, available from halfords by the metre will be just fine.

There are enough of these machines knocking about so spares should be available from other members - dont forget the "tyre" around the pump drive too. I may even have some parts myself as I scrapped a single tub a few months ago, although not a motor. That said, these machines are both simple and robust so it is not that likely that you will need a new motor.

Going by your email address I suspect an interest in vintage cars, several other UK members share that same interest.

My next door neighbor as a kid, had a Hoover she brought from Germany with her of the same design but newer. Motor operated wringer you fit in its spot and either you drained out or wrung at the same time. 2 position switch for wash or wring and drain plus a stop switch. She almost died and went to heaven when her husband surprised her with used Maytag. With 3 kids, that Hoover just didnt cut it.

Hoover 0307 Single Tub

Hi Alex. I used a standard fill hose with the cone-shaped tap connector on my 0307. You can maybe try an elastic pulsator belt for a Hoovermatic 3301/3304/3309. I can give you the original part number for the 0307 pulsator belt but i do''t know how it compares in size to the later V type ones. the 3301 belt being elastic will tension itself automatically.

Thanks to everybody for getting back to me I will put some pictures of the w3590 on the forum when I get a chance . It is in very good condition never having been used very much. there are some marks on the casing from being stored. It had the original instructions in the tub when I got it. the grey hose was perished at the back and it has now been replaced. when I opened it up the tyre had come off the pump and the belt off the motor but they were undamaged. Its heating water fine. As I say the only draw back is the original fill hose had perished and it has a little black rubber bit on the end to fit the grey hose to pump out the water. I dont have spinneret to match it but I have a Creda Debonair to make up for the lack of a power wringer I remember the ones with the power ringers being thrown away like nothing on earth years ago as more modern machines came in. I as brought up around these sorts of things as my granddad repaired second hand ones as a side line. He had a shop. So there was always, usually a hoover twin tub getting work done to it and the paintwork tidied up. Occasionally it was a Rolls or an Acme but usually a twin tub of some sorts.
