Programmer

Am i ready for a eye test or is that programme (number 1) on the timer dial when it should be the (letter A) Bio Prewash. Well done on the excellent clean up job. It's now in total show room condition.

Mr Eagle Eyes :-)

Hi Craig.
Well spotted!

Yours eyes arent deceiving you - we have had to install the programmer dial innard from an A3006, though hopefully it will be temporary.

When we got the machine, Rob noticed that there was a lot of play in the dial and difficulty in getting it to 'Push off' positively.
On removing the dial we found that the plastic protrusion, that slots over the programmer shaft, had torn and was allowing play on the dial. Once broken, the dial would have spun round and round, without turning the timer.

Raiding the spare parts we have, the closest we could find was the programmer innard from an A3006 (amongst others for the A2E04 and A3060).

So, hopefully temporarily, its equipped with a dial that works but a bit complicated:

A=1
B=2
C=3
D=4
E=5
F=7 (there is no equivilant of the A3006's programme 6, so it jumps)
G=8
H=9
J=10

The old dial is with me and just waiting the purchase of some super glue, before some sort of repair will be implemented involving the glue and me wrapping the broken part in acetate (those who saw my repair to the facia of the Hotpoint 95842 Microtronic will know what I mean by wrapping).

Have this evening possibly found a source of brand new replacement A3058 programmer disks, so it should be put back to normal sooner rather than later (with a bit of luck!).

Paul

Very nice...

Looks like you are having fun with your new front loading automatic. I am having the same experience in cleaning up my first two front loading automatic collection pieces! I did email you about them I think...

James.

Oh well my eyes aren't that bad after all. I'm sure you guys are really proud of what you have done to get this Hoover in tip top condition. you truly make this site worth visiting. I have been fortunate to use an Electronic deluxe 800 spin but not the same model as yours but a earlier model. I could go on all night about what i liked about it. I guess you know what i mean. Ahh i'm so jealous.

Programme guide

Hello, Awesome machine!

But I am confused with the programme guide... Before fabric name, there is something like orange symbol with number and temperature, and after fabric guide there are letters (A, B, C etc). So, I'm not quite sure, how would I, select a Cottons 95 without prewash? Confuzed a little :P

And what is the max spin of this machine?

Dex :)

Wonderful

Paul it looks beautiful, such a great looking range of machines, and how well you have cleaned it up......the internals remind so much of the AS1 summer special, but anyway well done in all respects.

Now to the Chemical Metal.

If the holes are small 5 pence peice size dont worry about fibre glass etc.

First wire brush any loose rust away, then apply Kurust this is very fast acting takes about 15 minutes to go off (the rust will turn black)

Once you have done this mix the chemical metal as per instructions and apply it, again this goes off in about 5 minutes, once set you can then paint it with either enamel paint or hammerite, these do take a while to go off best left over night.

If it is only surface rust like on the flange of the tub i just wire brush it, use kurust and then paint it

And thats it Paul, i have used this combination of intoxicating chemicals for some years with absolute success, BUT do it in a well ventilated room or outside

Good luck
Gary

hotpoint 95622

Fantastic find, lovely machine well done.

You will soon stop it weeing on the floor, good practice for sorting out the leaking Hotpoint. Crouzet timers are huge, like a house brick, built to last.

Lee Wee

Its bad enough when they wee on the floor but when they start telling you to eff off and doing rude things with a crucifix you know you have real problems :-)

If the timer is like the one in my AS1 and A3060 it will have a brilliant sound, lots of clicking and sort of groaning sounds

I love these old machines

Fantastic machine!

Congrats on finding this, hope you can get it up and running and leak free soon, cosmetically it's pristine!

I wasn't aware that there was a difference between Mike's A3006 and this model, I had always just assumed his was an A3058!

P.S. When walking home the other night I caught a glimpse of an A3060 in a very Margot Leadbetter style 1970s kitchen of a house a few doors down from us, will certainly be keeping an eye out incase the owner no longer wants it!

Matt

Sorry for the delay in reponding Matt - i've been out of circulation for a while.
Thanks for posting.

The cleanliness was after a whole afternoon of removing grime and a nasty gash to the wrist, courtesy of the lid retaining bracket which I hit managed to strike twice in exactly the same area. It was a real stinger!

The machine was bought on the 1st of October, today is the 28th, and I now have a lovely 2.5cm long scar on my left wrist, to remind me of the Hoover a3058!

Maybe Gary's Exorcist A3058 (love it Gary!) is closer to reality than he realises.
Paul
p.s get to know 'Margot' better as, as well as the A3060, she may be harbouring a D6042 dryer and .... breaking out in a sweat .... a D7016 Superjet!
