Hoover keymatic question ( for those lucky enough to a have a working one !)

Hi guys.

I'm moving slowly farther forward to getting my keymatic working and I noticed the other night with the help of Mikeymatic we think it's filling too much on position 2. It fills until pressure switch 1 kicks in and starts to tumble then continues to fill until water over flows the door , can anyone who's machine works tell me how high water level ends up before heating?

I think pressure switch 2 maybe faulty.

Hi Richard
It might not necessarily be faulty I recall having a conversation with Mathew about this ages ago, if I remember correctly you can adjust the pressure switch to trip at the correct point. I think it has an adjusting screw somewhere. Hopefully Mathew will chip in with the full explanation.

Keymatic Fill

The water level should be just into the door boot as it tips back with full load, you can adjust the pressure switch BUT (let Matt confirm ) which one for high level fill it is AND only micro turns are required, we overturned Johns and spent nearly a day fine tuning it, cos you have to keep draining and re-setting it to test the fill again, Once set dont touch ha ha...

Check the pressure pot is clear and no air holes in breather pipes, my hoses looked fine but the retainer clips had cut into them causing cracks and air bleed...

sorry for the delay and the quick response now, but been away then int work and now just off out again, so just quick reply. yes when full the water is just over the pulsator and just under lip of the door opening. but before you try adjusting the screws, check the hoses on the pressure switches, we found after making adjustments, the very flexible air hose had perished at the point it attached to the pressure switch on the side facing into the machine so that it wasn't visible from the back of the machine. So sorry if you already have but recheck the hoses, as a lesson, we had to renew the pressure hose on the lt bendix, as though in good condition must have been porous at a point of wear and slowly released the presure causing the machine to overfill later in the cycle, and I was protesting it couldn't be the pipe as I could blow into the pipe and make it work. Check this first and if not I'll think further

At mikes video on youtube, 3226 keymatic at about 48seconds in, this shows the full level, though you can't see the pulsator, you can see the tub has dropped back and that the pulsator would be submerged.

The keymatic lives

I'm in the process of creating a mini laundry room in my mums wash house with hopefully 4 vintage machines. I'll do a separate thread on this !

I've plumbed in the keymatic and had chance to try it out properly and it's working a lot better than I thought

It fills to level one and starts
Fills to level 2 tumbles pauses and heats
It heats and reaches temperature
It starts the wash with pulsator if needed
It doesn't advance through wash time
It empties stops and clicks into spin
It doesn't stop spinning though.

So I've managed to do two loads with a little prompting from me by removing the key plate a few times it worked a treat. A small leak needs to be investigated

I've done a video sorry it's badly shot and edited it was rushed a bit.
