In need of a pavement sweeper or vac here.

Saw the Hoover "SpinSweep" online - haven't seen any in stores.

For under $100, looks like it might work for me. I have a courtyard bordered by nondeciduous trees, which drop a fair amount of leaf litter and seeds year-round. Just swept it clean this morning - afternoon high winds quickly deposited a new layer of leaves/flowers/seeds on the pavement.

Anybody have any experience with the SpinSweep? I also notice that Shop Vac sells an electric powered "yard" vac (not for use on lawns) that might work as well, but it might raise a fair amount of dust in the process. The advantage of the SpinSweep is that it's non motorized and unlikely to raise a dust cloud.

Tried using the lawnmover plus rear catch bag as sort of an ad-hoc vacuum cleaner, but that did raise a hefty dust cloud and am unlikely to try that again (although it did a fair job of pickup up stuff).

Gas powered lawn/patio vacs start at around $400 and am not all that interested in making that kind of investment as yet. The SpinSweep goes for under $100.

The Spin Sweeper(s)

Rich I bought one of these 2 years ago. They were offered at
Kmart and True Value venues. These two appear a bit more
"beefy" than the one I got. They appear to have larger holding
capacities respectively. I think I got mine for $59.99 marked
down from $79.99 . I found it to be more amusing than anything else. It is incredibly flimsy to say the least and does a mediocre job of sweeping. It is not the "tool" you would want if you have any cracks , particularly if the cracks involve significant differences in elevation, like a
quarter inch for instance! It's akin to running into a brick
wall. I would recommend that you go with a "roller" type sweeper , but I think that might be too wide for your use.
My opinion: save your funds!!!!

Thanks, Darryl. The products in the link I posted are supposed to be the original SpinSweep and its successor, the SpinSweep Pro. The Pro model is supposed to be a bit more sturdy than the original, which I assume you bought.

There are a couple of other options. Here is a link to the Shopvac electric yard sweeper:

And a link to the Shopvac "Industrial" Shop Sweeper:

Then, there are some rather pricey German versions of the Hoover Spinsweep:
