Very cool, perhaps some family returned to the UK after a spell in SA, shipping the contents of their house back to dear old Blighty, when the natives got a bit too restless...
There was a Hoover plant in SA, opened in 1963ish, there's a period Hoover promo film that mentions it as newly built on archive.org.
The only other SA built Hoover I've seen was a U4006 - looked identical to the UK U4002 Senior Ranger, but with the older style handgrip.
Electric rail traction? Hope to visit the preserved Ballater battery-electric multiple unit next time I'm over the border!
