According To Hoover:
"Spinner Fails To Rotate":
1. Lack of Current - Check wires from spinner terminal block to main switch and micro switch to be sure they are connected.
2. Belt - Check belt for looseness or breakage.
3. Micro Switch Linkage - Check linkage going to micro switch to be sure switch is being turned on when lid is closed. Adjust linkage as per service instructions.
4. Brake Failure - Check brake to make sure it is releasing when lid is closed. Adjust brake operating rod if necessary.
5. Spinner Pump - Check spinner pump for free movement. If frozen, dismantle and repair.
6. Spinner Motor - Connect test light between the white and black wires on spinner motor terminal block. Turn main switch on and if test light lights and motor does not run, the motor is bad. Dismantle m otor and check for bad armature, field coil, carbon brushes or bad bearings.
Well, there you have it. If you require the directions for removing any of the above mentioned parts such as motor, let me know.
As far as spares, you'll have to hunt around, but there are some out there. There are a few places in OZ and UK that still have MIB Hoover spares. You can find them on eBay. Pumps and motors are rare, with new motors VERY hard to come by. You may have to find another unit to break down, or perhaps someone will have a unit they are willing to do so for you, and or have done so already thus have a motor.
May one suggest you also check you the Yahoo.com groups for twin tubs. There is one just for Hoover TwinTubs, and another for twinnies in general. Both full of champion lads and lasses who are more than happy to help if they can. Both groups also have great archives and databases of useful information.
