While I guess technically that Hotpoint's Jet Spray Shower in the front top corner could be called a part of the wash system because it sprayed water over the dishes and played a part in flushing food soil away, it was the water inlet by which the machine filled, so it was not a full time spray and would be a hell of a poorly designed top spray if it were part of the recirculating system.
Without an adjustable top rack, Hotpoint dishwashers like these had so little clearance between the rack and the top of the tank that even normal-sized drinking glasses would only fit in the extreme outside edges of the rack.
