ok guys it was finally time for the hotpoint 9534 to do its last wash for a long time yesterday, i put the final wash on and as i pulled out the dial, it came off the machine into my hand :( im very sad but earlier on today the zanussi fla1002w that hasnt been shown off yet was plummed in, i gave it a rinse out, did a 50c wash and now its just doing a maintenance wash after being stood by the bendix for about a year, the hottie now rests next to the bendix. pics to follow, the first is the one from about 1 year ago when doing a 60c cycle

when we had our 9534 the door handle got chipped like many other 95series and the dial snapped off. But we still could use it but it wouldn't sit there, it'd just fall off.

Whats spin performance like on zanussi, better than hotpoint? as they are both 1000.

spin performance

its very good, id say better than the hotpoint, the final spin is as follows:
drain and 1 tumble
2nd tumble up to distribute speed for a few seconds
spin burst at 450rpm
few more tumbles
spin burst at 450rpm
slow down to distribute speed like the hotpoint then up to 450 rpm then slowly up to 650 rpm then to 1000rpm for about 3-4 mins
slow down and 8 anti tangle tumbles

nice sequence, i always prefer tumbling or distribution whilst draining. Just my preference, my dyson tumbles whilst draining, my hotpoint wma58 tumbles whilst draining too but my LG just sits there then tumbles once drained.

But i don't really mind...lol

ok now a few notes

when it was plugged in it was making a slight grindy sort of sound and the drum was stiff but after the first wash and the maintenance wash the grinding had stopped, the drum is still stiff but i think that will become less stiff the more it gets used, and now it sounds very quiet which im relieved at as the hotpoint was too loud and my dads girlfriend kept complaining about the noise, so in a way im relieved but sad as the hotpoint wont be used for a long time im guessing. anyway thats that so ill be trying to do videos of the zanussi in action asap but no promises as the camera needs new rechargeable batteries, and ill try to get better quality pics of the washer situation.

oh and one more thing

the bad points: the balance sensor can give too much balance trash which is annoying and the drum is apparently a 5kg drum able to wash 4.5kg but it looks more mike a 4.5kg drum that can wash 4kg, same as the bendix drum, so more loads will have to be done to get rid of all the washing, but its still a good machine

Bad Points

My Parents last machine, an Electrolux Premier, was extremely similar to this machine.

It also used to faff quite alot when balancing, but would on occasion just spin regardless and the whole machine would leap forward and sidewards about 6 inches. The drum & suspension noise was also quite nasty when it wasn't balanced, really sounded like it was broken, but all the Tricity Bendix/Zanussi/E'lux models ive seen of the time are very similar so i think it was just how they were. Not nice to see tho, and thankfully the FUCS system fitted to the newer Zanussis seems to be much more effective at balancing effectively and without faff.

The drum would almost certainly be a 4.5kg one. All Zanussis/E'lux/TB i've seen of that age appear to have the same drums and they were 4.5kg. The first bigger ones i know of were the XC range, which increased things to 6kg.

the good thing also

mine dosent jump about when spinning, i find if ANY washer jumps around it annoys me partly because its not level, also as it may be unbalances or overloaded and partly because the person from the company who comes to install the machine should already know to level it correctly.

Hi Philip

Shame about the 9534 - but at least its gone into quiet retirement, rather than death at the tip.

When I moved to Derby, the house I lived in had the same Zanny as yours. A really good machine and was gutted when it was replaced by a cheapo Indesit.

Machine would be put on first thing in morning and still be going when people got home after work in the evening. I faffed about with the waste hose, as I was sure it was syphoning, but nothing I did changed a thing.
Maybe it was a programmer issue, but nonetheless it was a great machine.

Enjoy yours.

Programmer issue.....

When ours died at 7 years old, it was because the programmer/pcb failed & took the motor with it, or vice versa. Either way, both parts had failed when the engineer came out to look at it.

It filled with water, the programmer clicked very faintly a few times, nothing happened & then the dial clicked round to drain & that was it.

We decided that faced with a bill for a new motor, new programmer/pcb & the associated labour, we'd just replace it as it had been heavily used so we felt we'd got our moneys worth from it. Only £249-£299 new so not that pricey.

With regard to the jumping on spin, ours wouldn't sit still no matter what we did. It'd spin once totally fine, and then on the following rinse it'd go mad. I think not having it fitted in between cupboards doesn't help. It was one of those machines that almost needed tying down! Did a good enough job though.
