I've finally got round to getting a video onto Youtube, I'm new to all this so it's taken me a while to get it sorted.

The first video is of a delicates final rinse and spin. Unfortunately no washing in but it's a start!

I'll hopefully be uploading more videos of a proper wash cycle soon.

just watched the vid on youtube, think i was the first to comment on it too, woohoo!! lol What an excellent machine, i grew up with the 95360, only the 800rpm model but it's what first got me into washing machines!! i wish we still had it so i could appreciate it more now than what i could when i was little!

The sounds on your Hotpoint are identical, really brought back some memories! best of all the spins!! the sound of the motor cutting in after the first spin burst to maintain distrbution speed, the pump chugging along the whole time and the sound of the motor whirring up, brilliant, really brought a smile to my face!

Would love to see more vids of it in action, i appreciate how difficult it is to get vids done and uploaded but you're really onto something with this machine!! Good Work!!

Thanks Ariston4life! The motor on this particular machine has really got some kick, even compared with other 95 series washers i've seen.

Thanks Pedro, glad you liked it! Of course there's also the loud 'buzzz' from the timer during distribution, characteristic of the early 95 series.

Ah yes i forgot to mention the buzz from the timer!

If anyone has ever seen the very first episode of 'Shameless' there's a scene in it in which Fiona has to keep her foot on the door of their Hotpoint in order for it to work, when she pushed her foot against the door you hear the timer start buzzing and the spin cycle kicks in, and instead of just plucking a random washing machine "sound-effect" out of thin air and using it, there is no mistaking that Hotpoint timer buzz!!!

Oh, Thanks for the video.
It's great exactly like my childhood machine that lasted many years and was working when thrown away because it was old fashioned compared to new kitchen. However it has great noise of motor and the motor sound when maintaining distribution speed after burst. SO COOL! And same sounds as mine.
I wish I had it......

I got round to doing a full wash cycle this morning. I decided to do some whites on number '2' 60c colourfast cotton. This first video shows the machine filling up with hot water only.
At the first level of the pressure switch (half load level), the tumbling starts. Because the hot water pressure is so low the filling takes a good few minutes!

After filling, the timer moves on to the heating stage, with the shorter tumbles. As the incoming water temperature is already over 40c, the static heat is skipped. The heat up to 60c is timed (approximate).

The second video shows the distribution after the wash. Of course, being an 80s machine there is no spin after the wash (spinning hot washing was thought to set in creases).

The first rinse is runs only for 90 seconds, the others being 3 minutes, therefore the machine spends most of the first rinse filling.

Onto second distribution... yes there are spins! Very well balanced too, and indeed this 9534 rarely misbehaves, unlike its younger cousin the 9537.

Two short 500rpm spins later and we're filling for the second rinse.

Here we have the third video showing the end of the third rinse, distribution and short spins and into the final rinse.
I love the way this machine doesn't mess around trying to balance etc. it really does just get on with its job without complaint.

Now the bit many of you have been waiting for! The final rinse, and the spins. Two short 500rpm spins as per the other rinses, then as the second 500rpm spin is slowing the timer moves on a notch and we're straight up to 1000rpm for 3 minutes, no messing about!

At the end I press the timer knob in and wait for the door to unlock.

I think its funny how the motor has so much torque in it, like pushes the top across when the drum turns.

yeah the motor seems to be overated for the job. The later electronic speed controllers in the WM series toned the motors down a little. (In the case of the WM62 WM63 and WM64.. type, alot!!)

Thanks for the videos Tom, they bring back a load of memories. My mother had the one just before this which as far as I can see was only different with a shiny brown door.

The thing that used to wind me up as a kid was the long wait between the 500 spins. I have just timed it and it was 1 min 15 secs. I suppose the timer simply repeated itself from the drain and distribution phase.

Interesting the buzz! Our machine started to do this about 18 months in. I discovered it was something to do with the interlock. I disconnected it and the noise stopped. Of course you could open the door when you fancied, but that didn't bother me.

Glad you like them Rob.
The only differences I can see between the 9530 and 9534 in the service manual are that the module in the 9530 was at the bottom of the machine. In the 9534 it is at the top, attached to the timer. The timer itself was slightly modified to include double pole heater switching.
Interesting about the interlock causing the buzzing. The interlock on these Hotpoints does seem to be fairly non standard. Maybe that's the reason it was changed in later machines.

oh the posting of that 9530 manual causes me pain!

As I thought would occur my aunt and uncles insurance company condemned, but in fantastic condition, 9530 was unfortunately skipped by the workmen.

I dont really know why I am so upset, as I knew it would happen and am a bit of a natural pessimist. As I am always telling my Rob, best not to expect wonders as you are then never disappointed. I suppose that the disposal of this machine from under my nose has proven that this isnt always the case!

As the others have said before, hearing this machine has really brought back memoroes for me - hopefully come mid july, me and rob will be able to introduce you to a slightly more vintage machine, with similar noise charecteristics.

But i digress.
As you mention Rob, the buzzing you hear is from the door interlocking mechanism.
I have a mate who will try and get to explain to me again, but that is definately from where the good old buzz originates from.

I had a 9530 when I lived in my flat in Luton. It was originally my sisters machine. her house came with appliances and it had a Hotpoint 9530 and a Hotpoint 17760 (I think) Dryer (Microtronic match). Anyway I gave her my Miele dryer to get the 17760 dryer and when the 9530 starting leaking she decided to get a new machine (Servis Caress!!!...Ewwww). I gladly took the 9530 off her. It was just the pump leaking so I put a new pump in it and horay!!!

Ahh the buzz from the interlock.

I had a Microtronic 9550 which did that. Annoyed the hell out of me as the buzzing was loud. Well I took the interlock apart and played with it and finally got it to stop buzzing. I wish and wish I still had that machine. It was fantastic and I dream of finding another one. I got rid of it because a row of the buttons had broken at the back and you couldnt select them anymore. I had got new trim for it and put new the "posher" laminated brushes in it and it was brilliant. The stupid mistakes we make when we get rid of machines.

Hello hotpoint 9534
I've forgot, please can you tell me how many rinses the hotpoint does and how long it takes on program 2 and 5?
My everyday program for colourds was 5.
I hate newer machines apart frommy dyson as it's quite quick and very clean, however the LG is rubbish as it takes 1 hour 50 mins for a 40* wash!
