So I have an Amana washing machine with the same type of lint filter referenced in the Hotpoint ad. I recall the JC Penney brand washers in the 70s had the same filter set up. How effective were these filters? When I watch my Amana do its thing, all is fine until the spin cycle. The filter is located directly above the tub, and when it engages into the spin cycle (there is no neutral drain), the tub water spins up into the filter that spills back into the tub. Not very effective..?!

I've wondered how the rim-flo filter cleaned itself. We had a rim-flo Hotpoint in an apartment for about a year, it did a pretty good job but I thought the capacity was smaller than a GE, it had the ramp agitator. I looked at the filter one day and saw that the holes were mostly clogged up from hard water deposits. All in all, it wasn't a bad machine.

I do like this style of Hotpoint, and from watching the youtube video of it, it sounded quiet running, turnover didn't seem the best though with this agitator.
