I picked this up from one of our customers today. It's a 14792. I just could not let it go for scrap so i have taken her home with me.

14792

This washer had been stored in a barn for many years. Suprisingly after taking the back of everything seemed ok all the belts still in place. The wash pump was free & easy to turn. The spinner pump was a little stiff but i soon had that turning ok. So after a bit of a clean up i thought i would try it out. The spinner side works fine, the heater operates. Now here is the problem the wash motor won't work totaly dead. At first a thought it could be the motor relay so i swapped it with the spinner motor relay just to see if that would solve the problem but no. So i got my tester screwdriver out to see if they was power going to it & they is. Now the bit that is puzzling me is why have the motors got no capacitors on them did the early models not have them on or are they elsewhere on the machine. The pic below is the replacement motor showing the capacitor. I just thought that maybe that's why the motor isn't working. Can anyone help. Craig

OMG, OMG, OMG

What a nice contraption you got there! OMG and I guess it was free was it not? congrats and have fun but shame about the motor.

Motors...

First of all, thats a very nice machine you got Craig. Not many of these about here in this part of Ireland. Mainly 9404's.

You ask about the capacitor, these according to my service manual were fitted to the Twin Tub's at a very late stage in production of the 94**'s, circa 1995 or so. I'm sure you could hook it up to the relay without the capacitor as all they did was replace the realy as a more reliable method of start up.

Please do verfy with someone else first though as I might be wrong.

James.

Hi Craig.

Good catch you got there! My monitor is pants though - I was under the impression that model 14792 was an almond model.
Is your find white or almond bodyshelled?

James knows more about the elctrics and internals than me, so I cant help answer your query.
I am sure someone else will be able to though.

Paul

I have decided it will have to go, to many things wrong with it. It Needs a new wash motor also the wash pump is leaking & to top it all off the enamel spin can is rusting. Never mind, you never know until you take a closer look.
