How have members shipped vintage washers and dryers?

Hello everyone! I wasn’t sure where to post this question, but if I find a vintage washer and dryer, does anyone have advice on how to ship it? Other than driving to pick it up, have members used a reliable and reasonable shipper? What’s the average cost?

I’m in South Florida near Fort Lauderdale, and my mom’s HE Hotpoint launders terribly (I have a SQ 542 I bought about 4 years ago and love it). Mom has a Maytag DE382 dryer, but it’s started a rhythmic “thump thump” recently. If I find an older matching Maytag washer, I’ll just repair this dryer (possibly a bad roller). But if I find a reasonable 80s or older non-HE washer in good, reliable condition I’ll buy it. Especially a matching set pre- 80s.

I have had great luck shipping stuff through Fastenal. You call them up at their central office and tell them weight and size of pallet and when you want to ship and from your local store to the destination store and they give you a price and you just drop it off at your local Fastenal. The thing is it has to be brought to a store and picked up at a store, no delivery. Its way cheaper than UPS by 1/2 at least.

Shipping has gotten really expensive compared to what it once was.... UShip could be an option if you are lucky, but if you have a vehicle that can carry a washer or dryer (or both) I prefer to get them myself.  And you don't necessarily need a huge truck either.... LOL

Yellow Freight

I sold a disassembled V8 engine plus lots of extra parts on Ebay last fall expecting the shipping to LA. to be in the $300 range or more.
Couldn't believe it when YRC's online quote came in at well under $200, and they picked it up at my house!
Driver was super nice to boot.

This was a good size pallet that had to weight 500 lbs+
