How to wax a washer?

So my original Speed Queen set is getting to be nearly 2 years old now. I'm noticing the finish is a bit ruff around the lip of the top where the water splashes during the spray rinse. Of course, I want to protect the finish. What's the best option - good ole car polish, or something else?

For all my appliances

In the good o'le days I used Jubelee. 

Now I prefer the paste version of Turtle Wax, or Mequires

 

I also like Turtle wax for walls in the shower.  Water runs right off, and no hard water spots.

I use New Finish or Finish 2000.
