HYDROSWEEP IN THE POND!!! FINISHED AND WORKING!!!

been a while but i finally got my hydrosweep pond fountain done and installed in the center of the pond today. probably not as good as that kitchenaid demonstration i saw when i was a teen (where they ran a kitchenaid pump and hydrosweep in a fountain to show it's cleaning ability) but hey, i'm happy with it for this year. next year i may fine tune it a bit more. here goes! pics galore (not to be confused with pussy galore)

here's the pump installed underneath the floating round board that mounts the hydrosweep. i wanted to avoid tight bends in an effort to increase water flow output from pump.

first off

duke and funky inspect the pond to make sure it's safe for me to get in

the general consensus

is that it's ok! no monsters lurking about, just a few frogs and some fish

this is what i used as an anchor

to keep it from floating back the edge. peice of iron pipe that will sink nicely into the muck.

speaking of sinking into the muck here i go! wading out to the center!

i float it out

anchor it, make my way back to the edge (haphazardly) and go plug it in!

i hear a big "whoooosh" sound almost like when i turn on one of my dishwashers after opening the door and there it is!

it works! it turns (about 20 rpm) it shoots water up about 8 feet and it floats!

i used my oldest cruddiest looking hydrosweep for this project.

even tho i used a gasket between the wash arm support and the toilet flange and used 4 screws this time, not 2 i can still see water shooting out at that seam. not gonna worry about it this year but when i pull it for winter i will do something to correct that water leakage.

it's exactly what i wanted so it was worth the effort and 2 failed attempts to get it right.

That pond is absolutley beautiful - the hydrosweep 'fountain' is unique! You must have a pretty big lot to accomodate that!!

pretty powerful jets of spray!

the birds can fly thru it and get a prerinse!
